A fantastic set of four retro Centa swivel chairs, featuring a sleek mid-century modern silhouette. These chairs, likely from the 1960s or 1970s, are reminiscent of the Centa Europa design but with a unique swivel base, making them perfect for a retro-inspired office, dining area, or statement seating.

Centa was a British furniture manufacturer active during the mid-20th century, particularly known for its work in the 1960s. The company produced a variety of furniture pieces, including lounge chairs, dining chairs, and tables, often reflecting the mid-century modern aesthetic.

The chairs are covered in faux leather (vinyl), a common material in mid-century modern and industrial designs. The surface has a textured, slightly cracked pattern, which may be due to age-related wear or could have been intentionally embossed to mimic real leather. The off-white cream color, combined with the slight aged pattern, gives it a lovely vintage character.

The upholstery is fully intact overall, though there is a split on the right-hand side of the main cushion on one chair. The edges, particularly towards the front, have a fair number of snags. All of this contributes to an aged, worn look, setting these chairs apart from the vast quantity of reproduction furniture flooding the market today.

They feature a metal star-shaped swivel base with a chrome finish, adding to their space-age, mid-century modern appeal. The central column is either steel or iron and is covered with a plastic circular sleeve. Two chairs swivel perfectly, one requires some effort, and the fourth does not swivel at all, which may be something that can be corrected.
