This is an outstanding vintage painted cupboard/sideboard.
It likely originates from southern Europe and is beautifully crafted from thick wood, making it exceedingly robust and heavy.
One of its most striking features is the door panel, which is made of iron bars, giving it a unique, rustic charm.
In my opinion, whoever restored this piece has carefully sanded down the original finish, exposing much of the natural wood while retaining some of the original dark stain, just enough to create a rich contrast beneath the paint.
It appears that they then applied a couple of coats of teal paint, followed by a clear wax finish. At certain points in the process, the piece was given a distressed look, enhancing its vintage appeal.
This is the kind of furniture that’s difficult to fully capture in words, so take a close look at all the images to appreciate its detail and character.
The storage space is deep and generous, making it highly practical. There is a hole in the back panel, suggesting that it may have been used for a TV or media unit at some point.
However, as you can see, this is an incredibly versatile and attractive piece of furniture that would look fantastic in any home. It suits a variety of interior styles, from vintage to modern contemporary.
