This is an unusual retro lamp base. Very classic candlestick holder design - wide round base, and tall turned stem. It is however finished in a very unusual metallic painted lacquer - almost like an old fashioned gesso cover. The finish is copper, black, bronze effect. Quite striking and certainly different.
As a tall lamp base, you can go with a super size lamp shade. Being from the 1970s, what about something bold and retro - picking up on the metallic, bronze copper colouring. Or of course, a good old fashioned vintage shaped Empire or Bell shaped shade would work well too.
The lamp is sold as working, but has not been professionally tested. It has a classic vintage brass lightbulb fitment at the top, on off switch on the fitment too. It takes standard bayonet bulbs. The cable is a decent length and there is a three pronged plug.
The lamp base is in very good vintage condition considering its age. There are a few tiny chips to the lacquer finish but these are not very noticeable, and then a few other marks all commensurate with age. The cable is a little discoloured from age.
A really different retro lamp base - classic in style, unusual in finish. Definitely from the 1970s. Enjoy dressing it up! Please see photos and video.
