Wonderful 1959 print by Frost & Reed Ltd, London, of Chinese painting by Cheng wu Fei. The painting is an exquisitely detailed take of Peonies. Titled Peony and signed in the block by Cheng Wu Fei. It is delightfully pretty and subtle in its colours with light pink flowers and buds, dark green leaves and two bees hovering. Wonderful condition and framed in a mount and lovely retro white wooden frame.
Cheng-Wu Fei (1914–2001) was a Chinese artist known for his traditional Chinese paintings. After studying at the National Central University in Nanking, he moved to London in 1946 to attend the Slade School of Fine Art, completing his studies in 1950.
During the 1950s, Cheng-Wu Fei collaborated with Frost & Reed, a prominent British art dealer and publisher, to produce lithographs of his works. This is one such lithograph is "Peony". These collaborations with Frost & Reed helped introduce Cheng-Wu Fei's traditional Chinese art to a broader Western audience during the mid-20th century.
You now have the opportunity to display this print in your home. Perhaps you have an oriental theme in your room? or maybe you like the idea of original mid century and early retro art. This print will definitely tick both boxes. A lovely print for a bedroom perhaps or for a room with pinks and cream accents. It is a large print so will definitely attract attention.
The print itself looks in very good condition. Perhaps the writing is a little faded and the far edges of the print are a little discoloured. Similarly the mount has a tinge of discolouration around its edges too. The white wooden frame is in vgc too but as you would expect, it does have odd marks and nicks in it from age and moving around. It could also probably do with a good wipe down to enliven it a bit. All of these mentions do not detract from what is a very lovely print worthy of display. And it is ready to display with a sturdy string/rope attached to hang it up with.

Size - frame : 51.5cm x 82.5cm, 35cm x 65.5cm aperture within the mount
