Incredible retro vintage table lamp. There are so many retro Onyx lamps on the vintage market, but boy oh boy is this one different. It is superb. Made out of Pakistan originating Onyx (label confirming on the lamp) and Made in Italy, this lamp has a real elegance and stature about it. Super quality with a two toned metal detail around the base and on the stem. It is sold as working and it has been safely PAT tested.
Super heavy onyx lamp - it has two tremendous pieces of onyx in it - the square base and the pear shaped middle. The shading and lines in the stone is simply gorgeous. Browns, creams and greens. Such super veinage. The pieces of onyx are then brought together on a two tone metal base (gold and silver in colour) and joining metal pieces in silver and gold colouring on the stem.
Original brass fitment. Label on the square base stating Pakistan Onyx, and I have had confirmation the lamp was made and put together in Italy. So a real diverse mixture of a lamp! Made in 1970s I believe.
The lamp is a real statement lamp - just wonderful and would look stunning with a vintage shaped shade eg Empire or Bell. Or I guess could be brought up to date with something contemporary!
The cable is a brownish colour, I think possibly stained from years of use. It is intact and is finished with an updated plug. The lamp base itself is in very good vintage condition. Tiny signs of age on the onyx and the metal finish is slightly aged too, but all still amazing in look and feel. Minor rubbed/chipped corners on the base, but nothing untoward, and the base is slightly squiff on the base.
