Wonderful 1950s, early 60s mid century piece. Great little bedside cupboard with really lovely detail including a two tiered shelf, a textured mock basket weave finish to the sides, splayed and tapered wooden legs finished in metal feet. Drop down single door giving you ample space for storage of all those bedroom bits and pieces. White/cream finish with duck egg blue tops. Lovely condition, although some tlc would not go amiss.
A smashing shape! Super cupboard to put next to your bed for its intended purpose, or of course repurpose elsewhere in the house. It could most definitely sit in any room as a neat mid-century accent piece. The shelf and top give you space to display functional and aesthetic items – book, clock etc if next to your bed, or indeed ornaments and lamps? The legs are sturdy and can be re-tightened as they are removable. The finish is actually very good for its age – must have been a quality piece.
The condition is very good vintage – as I say some tlc wouldn’t go amiss, but overall this item can definitely be used and displayed as is. On closer inspection you will notice, some age marks and colouring on the wooden legs, metal feet and columns are tarnished. The chrome strips show white in some places, and a tiny bit loose in a couple of places. The duck egg blue tops have cleaned up very well, but there are marks commensurate with age and use, and the edges worn in places. Some wear to the white weave, but not very much! Mostly around the knob as you would expect. Inside the cupboard there are a few markings etc. This seems a long list, which it is, but it is nothing to worry about. The cupboard is indeed in very good vintage condition and can be used as is. You can of course uplift it with some tlc or refurb with love.
I love this style – it is super funky and cool. I am not a funky or cool person, but I just love the way furniture of the time was super practical, but so different from previous eras. This is a fun piece and someone would have been very lucky to have had and loved this piece in their room. It definitely deserves to be brought back out into display.
