An iconic piece of British mid-century modern design, this original 1960s magazine rack was produced by Durlston Designs Ltd of Surrey. With its refined geometry, warm materials, and restrained styling, this rack is a quintessential example of utilitarian elegance from the golden era of British furniture innovation.

The structure features a sleek angular chrome like frame with a tripod base and minimal cross-bracing, typical of 1960s modernist engineering. It supports a central sling made from thick, mustard-hued woven canvas, ideal for storing magazines, vinyl records, or newspapers - laptop, books, cables, remote controls etc. The bottom rail is made from richly toned solid teak with clean, squared edges and visible wood grain. One side bears the original Durlston Designs paper label, confirming its authenticity.

Designed with portability and simplicity in mind, this piece would complement any mid-century or Scandinavian interior, adding both warmth and sculptural interest. It’s a highly collectible item, valued for its clean lines and material honesty.

Condition is good vintage. The frame shows minor signs of wear and ageing to the aluminium, with expected tarnishing. The teak wood retains a beautiful finish with only minor handling marks.
