This is a rather wonderful and quirky 1950s wine/side table with attached lamp standard.
It is a truly remarkable looking piece of classic 50s décor.
My guess is that it is possibly French or Italian, either way almost certainly European and not British..
You will need to get it rewired although there is quite a good length of wire to it, insulating tape to one end but you can cut that out.
Starting from the bottom it has wonderful wooden atomic legs. These are painted in a light cream and this is the original paint. To the bottom of the legs are metal feet. The legs are in good condition although some of the paint has worn in places.
The top is a clean white melamime wipe clean surface surrounded with a band of composite gold material. This does not meet exactly and there is a couple of centimetre gap which someone has blacked in at some point.
Moving upwards there are two long brass lengths which have kept well and two conical fluted and turned wooden pieces. Again these are great with gold decoration to the fluted areas. Again some of the paint has worn in places.
The rest of the gold and various other coloured turned pieces are a composite plastic with a gold finish which has generally worn leaving other colours from underneath that finish that are showing through. So, please take a good look at all of the images and utilise the zoom in facility to have a good look.
I will send this with the legs and attached to cut down on the risk of them being damaged.
This will certainly need rewiring however to be honest you can just stick a lampshade on it and it will just look fantastic anyway whether it works or not! But it is certainly such an unusual item and so attractive that it is certainly worth getting it rewired.
