Quirky and Unique Vintage Retro Onyx and Painted Shabby Chic Standard Lamp in Working Order.

This is a 1970s standard lamp, it has three turned pieces of onyx and the rest is a metal column and base which had a electroplated brass finish. Much of the brass finish had worn and to be honest the finish was tired and worn and the metal under the plate had begun to rust.

So I wire woolled the old finish and simply added three coats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell and then wire woolled that down so some of the original finish and the failings of the original finish show through to leave a really lovely shabby chic effect.

This is quite difficult to describe, so please make sure you take a good look at all of the images and utilise the zoom in facility to check the condition.

There is a chunk of Onyx missing from the top piece which obviously will not notice if it is placed facing the wall, again showing in the images.

It is the old original wiring but it looks and works perfectly well, although obviously feel free to get it checked out by an electrician.

There is an independent iron base under the metal plating which has a number of small bun feet, again there is an image of the underneath.
