A wonderful vintage etching (published by the artist himself) or Bush Bay in Porthallintrae. Printed in early to mid 1900s from an original water colour of the same. Gorgeously mounted and framed in true vintage originals. And in such lovely condition. A super original proof etching of what is a wonderful landscape scene. The etching is signed and labelled by the artist.
Robert Cresswell Boak ARCA (1875–1949) was an Irish painter and etcher renowned for his landscape and portrait works. Born in Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland, he pursued art education at the Londonderry School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. During his time in Belfast, he produced numerous etchings depicting the province's landscapes and historic buildings. This lovely painting would be one of those atmospheric depictions.
It is in wonderful condition considering its age and is framed in the original framed - with original backing, label denoting that the artist commissioned the proofs himself, and the original mount. There is a bit of dust or spotting on the mount, one or two other tiny marks, and the frame has got a few bit of gesso gilt missing etc. The frame is slightly loose if lifted from the top.
But all in all it is an outstanding example of a vintage print of a very accomplished Irish landscape artist.
