Pair Vintage Wooden Edwardian Upcycled Plant Holders.
Really interesting upcycling, the columns are from an Edwardian sideboard and the base and top recently added.
These are very clever. Turned and carved columns have come from a late Victorian or Edwardian sideboard where they would have supported the top cupboard or mirror. They have been stripped, which is why you can still see the black in the carving, of the original finish.
The base on the top have been added later. You can see underneath where there are pencil marks used to put the top and bottom in precisely the correct place.
The top and the base are made of beech, a quality hardwood and the columns appear to be satin wood or pine.
On the whole they are in good condition. Both have watermarks to the top surface obviously from the planter that would have been sitting resplendent on view.
The bottom wood on one of the bases is slightly curved. You will see in the images that it has been repaired at some point and because it curves, but that is nothing to do with the repair just the wood, somebody has added a couple of pieces of some synthetic board and cardboard to stop the rocking.
The other one has a barely visible repaired split to the top.
Please take a good look at all the images and use the zoom in facility to get a good look at the condition.
