Please note that I have had an operation and will be unable to dispatch larger items till later in the month, as I am not supposed to move heavy items etc. My partner will continue to try and get smaller items out as normal. If you would like to know if we can get your item out in our normal timeframes, please just message us with a link and we will let you know. If you are happy to wait for your item, then please go ahead and place your order as normal! Thanks for your business, and your patience and understanding. Chris
This is a superb pair of glazed display units.
I have no idea where they came from or what they were originally used for. At first, I thought they might have been part of a grand collector’s cabinet, but there is no evidence to the sides that they have operated as drawers.
Please note that one of the glass panels is missing and will need to be replaced. This is simple as the wooden length underneath that holds the glass in is screwed into place, so they just need unscrewing.
These units can obviously be used for display purposes, as they were originally intended, or you could repurpose them into wall cupboards or other storage solutions.
One has a handle, while the other is missing its handle.
There are round holes on either side, which suggest they may have originally been interlinked and that there may be more of them in existence.
They are made of solid oak, so they are of very high quality, with boarded bottoms. The oak is generally well preserved with just a few signs of wear.
The interior is lined with green baize, which is mostly in okay condition. However, there are some areas with wear and small holes, indicating they have been well used. There is also in particular visible wear on the sides. You may well want to consider changing this.
They are almost certainly late Victorian.
If you’re looking at these, it’s because you’re searching for something similar and know exactly what you want.
The price is for the pair, and they will be delivered by hand via a professional furniture courier at no extra charge, the cost is already factored into the asking price.
So yes, you may want to refurbish them, and you’ll certainly need to replace the glass. Or perhaps I shouldn’t be speculating about what you’ll do with them—either they’re perfect for you, or they’re not.
Please refer to the photographs for a closer look at the details and view the overall condition. Feel free to message with any questions.
