Outstanding Vintage Victorian Brass Fender Fire Iron Upright Holder
You will not see many of these about. It is so rare to find a fender that has the facility for the upright storage of fire irons let alone still have both of them.
These lift out of the holders behind the fender front. The tops of these are brass, and below the top of the fender they are iron. They are outstanding and very rare addition but easy to remove if you don't want them.
I am selling this fender as I have found it, although I have wire brushed over the surface rust to the metal tray. It would of course clean up to a lovely shiny gold but I'm aware these days crush lots of people like them in this tarnished age worn condition. The rust is surface and there are no distinct areas of corrosion from the rust.
It is fully intact and the only blemish that I can notice is on the front left corner of the square plinth that is a split, see images.
This Fender is very heavy as it is of very fine quality construction and material.
The beautiful pair of upright decorations and other decorative features make this a very beautiful fender which would enhance any fireplace
