Outstanding Pair or Upholstered Vintage Victorian Mahogany Dining or Occasional Chairs.
What a superb pair of top quality chairs these are. The workmanship and quality are absolutely outstanding.
They are Victorian and made of top quality mahogany. All of the joints are fine and secure and they are exceedingly robust.
They look to have been reupholstered probably in the 1980s and they have been upholstered to a very high standard with quality velvet. There are a few very minor blemishes and wear to the upholstery but on the whole as you can see in the images it is very well preserved and in very good condition.
There are too many beautiful wooden features too single out. Just take a very good look to appreciate the time, effort and craftsmanship that has gone into making these chairs. I have angled them in the photographs so you can see all four sides to each chair so use your zoom in facility to have a really good look.
The original brass and porcelain and look great and have been restored.
There are some very minor blemishes to the original French polished finish and very minor signs of wear to the wood, so again take a good look at the images. This is just natural wear and tear over probably 150 years and add real character and authenticity. I always think it is better to have vintage furniture that is very slightly aged worn so you will use it properly and not have it sitting back a museum piece. Noticeably to the backs of the rear for chair legs the wood is a little bit lighter where it is being bleached by the sun. I can only imagine they sat around a table near a window and the bottoms of the chairs were in direct sunshine which I actually think is quite a sweet little nuance and quirk.
Obviously these were originally from a larger set of dining chairs but these days people tend to use these decorative chairs just around the house as occasional chairs. Perfect in the bedroom for chucking your clothes on and the intended sitting use.
