Who doesn't love a painting which reminds you of a holiday abroad, somewhere you grew up, a place depicted in a movie or a book. This lovely vintage water colour is just like that. A wonderful peaceful and warm reflection of a coastal village likely in the Mediterranean. Village houses, rocky streets, plants, sea and mountains. A lovely village scene against a hot, dusty landscape. Well painted and framed in a super vintage two toned wooden frame.
The painting is in vgc. It is light, fresh, detailed and really does make you feel like to would like to live in one of the houses. The houses are typical of a Greek village, or somewhere similar. Lots of flat roofs, covered entrances and outdoor stairs. The trees and brush is more warm weather than colder climes. The sea is glistening in the distance, and the mountains hint at adventure and other places to visit.
The painting is not signed unfortunately. Perhaps it was painted by someone who was on holiday and wanted to capture the village they stayed in. Or perhaps it was painting by a local and brought home by a visitor. It has been lovingly framed in a two toned vintage wooden frame - white and brown - is glazed and has wire ready to hang. The mount has hand drawn edges and is a slightly mottled effect. The mount does have some spotting on it. The frame, as you would expect, shows signs of age with a few marks and nicks in it. But the painting itself is in vgc and can be hung up and displayed as is.
Given the frame, I would say that this painting is possibly 1970s .... can't be 100% sure.
