A striking block-based floor lamp featuring a square and profile column that extends vertically from a substantial square plinth. The plinth has lightly bevelled corners and rests on a small band of feet, creating a solid and stable design typical of mid-century or earlier floor lamps.

Hand-painted with floral motifs, the lamp is both functional and decorative. It has a white cord and a standard UK plug, indicating that it is wired for contemporary use or has been updated for safety. Indeed it has just been PAT tested,

The front face displays soft, leafy sprays of pink and white roses alongside yellow-centred wildflowers. Each side of the central pole is adorned with a vertical vine of blue and green blossoms. These delicate florals give the piece a shabby chic or French country style reminiscent of hand-finished furniture from the 1930s to 1950s. The background paint is a creamy ivory, now naturally worn and patinated. The pastel tones of the flowers create a romantic vintage appeal.

Visible scratches, scuffs, and areas of paint loss add authentic vintage character. There is a noticeable vertical scrape on the face of the square base where the paint and floral detail have worn away, exposing bare wood beneath. Surrounding areas show fine cracking in the paint, typical of aged painted wood. While most of the hand-painted florals remain clear, some areas show abrasion or fading. These signs of natural wear enhance the charm and indicate genuine age, rather than an artificially distressed finish.

The accompanying vintage fabric lampshade is likely from the mid-20th century. It has a classic balloon shape with vertical ribs and is crafted from a silky satin-like fabric in a soft golden beige hue. The top is cinched to create a ‘waist,’ further enhancing its voluminous silhouette. There are signs of age, including some water staining along the lower edge on one side, which can be turned toward the wall if desired.

Ornate trimmings include ruched braid and long hanging tassels at the top, with additional braid detailing around the waist and hem. The shade evokes Edwardian or early 20th-century revival styles, complementing the shabby chic base beautifully. While these components were acquired separately, they are well-matched in style and likely from a similar period.

This will cost us between £60-80 to deliver, so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
