Wonderful original art work by Welsh artist, Cheryl Firth. Cheryl specialised in painting scenes around the Gower Peninsula including landscapes and places of interest. This particular one shows the world famous double decker tram running from Mumbles to Swansea. Electrified in the 1930s and running till 1960. Delightful painting showing the charm of Wales and the ingenuity of the double deck tram - looking perilously close to the edge mind you!
The painting is of interest for so many reason - bit of transport and tram nostalgia, holiday nostalgia, and to be honest just a lovely look back in time at a very popular destination. Well executed and a really positive capture of the moment.
A signed original by Cheryl Firth. Mounted in a cream mount and then framed in a wooden and gilt frame. Cheryl ran a successful framing business with her husband for many years, so this is quite possibly a frame they did themselves. This painting was bought in 1992 from Swansea for £45 - so says the back! It is ready to hang and will no doubt be a cheerful painting to many.
