This is an absolutely superb example of a late Victorian occasional or nursing chair.

These chairs are often regarded as nursing chairs due to their small arms, which are primarily for structural purposes, allowing a mother, or these days, a father—to sit comfortably with a baby in their arms.

It’s a chair that will suit any room, offering both an attractive look and a very comfortable place to relax.

For its age, it’s in exceptional condition. There’s virtually nothing wrong with it. I believe it was probably restored in the 1980s or 1990s. The mahogany frame is in beautiful condition—sturdy and solid, with a lovely, polished patina.

The quality of the wood and craftsmanship is sublime.

The upholstery is well-preserved and was likely reupholstered in the 1980s or 1990s. Although the color may have faded slightly, the condition is very good. There are three or four very small marks that are only noticeable upon close inspection, as you’ll see in the images.

Most importantly, the chair is very comfortable, and I love the plush cushion back.

It’s quite a bulky chair, so be sure to check the dimensions before purchasing.

It features beautiful original brass and porcelain castors.

Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales only.

This will cost us between £60-80 so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
It will take about 2 weeks.
