Early 20th Century and amazing quality with a Harrods plaque to the back. Originally a glazed bookcase it has lost the doors and there are holes where the hinges and door catches were.
Incredibly heavy and made of mahogany.
The shelves are adjustable, There are eight in all, including three to each side and two central shelves. There is a mixture of the original support pegs and newer brass ones.
The shelves are quite deep.
The original finish has been keyed in. It has then received a primer undercoat, two coats of a standard cream silk emulsion and a top coat of Farrow and Ball light cream eggshell, either James White or All White. It has been hand painted so expect the odd flaw and brush marks. The painting is recent so the finish is in great condition. The protruding edges have been lightly sanded to expose the under coverage and leave a more contemporary feel to the piece.
This is a superb piece of quality furniture made in the early 20th Century.
