We have applied two primer coats and four topcoats of Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell White Tie
Farrow and Ball of White Tie say-
• A pale creamy white. Our prettiest white is named after the old, pre-brightened, starched cotton used for white tie jackets. One of our Yellow Based Neutrals, White Tie brings a gentle warmth to any room and is deepened with a touch of black pigment. Combine with Matchstick, String and New White for a delicate scheme with reassuringly creamy undertones.
We have highlighted the edges with an artists acrylic gold paint and wire wooled down to numb the shiny finish.
The glass is the thick original glass and is fortunately well preserved.
We decided against removing the catch and filling as it is what it a, a wardrobe door and although maybe a silly point I think it is nice to keep evidence of it’s history especially as it is hardly noticeable.
I have added two brass mirror plates as they look fine with gold sides, however you can obviously easily replace with your own hanging solution.
The back panels are thick but are only screwed on and they are of no structural value as the build quality and joints of the door are exceptional. So they can simply be unscrewed and removed so that the door will sit flush against the wall.
All painted in hand on a frame over 100 years old so do not expect a clinical factory finish. As you can see in the images it is in very good condition but expect minor flaws to the finish.
This is a superb quality piece and of course if you prefer another colour you can paint straight onto the existing finish.
182 x 52 cm. The actual glass size is 124 x 40 cm. The glass is bevelled and generally in very good condition.
