This is a rare and exceptionally well-preserved antique Arts & Crafts oak display cabinet, dating from the 1920s. Featuring all the hallmarks of quality early 20th century craftsmanship, the cabinet is composed of two main sections: an upper glazed display with twin leaded glass doors, and a lower base unit also glazed on all sides. The piece showcases the clean lines, honest construction, and hand-crafted detail that define the Arts & Crafts movement.

The leaded glass panels are an original feature and remain intact with no cracks or warping, each pane delicately arranged in a geometric diamond lattice pattern that subtly echoes Tudor revivalist influences. The front doors are fitted with brass fittings and retain their original drop handles and keyhole escutcheons. Inside the top section are two removable glass shelves, and the back of the upper cabinet is mirrored to enhance light and create a sense of depth, ideal for showcasing fine china, ceramics, collectibles, or shop merchandise.

Between the two display units is a wide flat serving or display surface with another mirrored panel running behind it, making this piece suitable not only for domestic settings such as a dining room, library or hallway but also for retail or gallery use. The base cabinet also includes a single interior glass shelf and generous floor space, making it highly functional for storage of books, decorative items, or stock. There is a chip to one corner of the thick shelf which in normal use cannot be seen. The bottom part has lost the handle, but an operating key currently suffices.

The cabinet sits on delicate cabriole legs and has excellent proportions, offering generous visual impact without overwhelming a space. It has been cleaned and lightly polished to preserve the original oak grain and golden patina while keeping its authentic period character. There are minor surface marks, tiny scuffs and signs of wear consistent with its age, particularly to the internal shelves and outer edges, but nothing that detracts from its usability or presentation. All doors open and close smoothly and glass shelves are secure.
We think, mid 20th century, someone sought to add lighting, there is evidence to the base, a junction box to the rear and you will see a fitment added to the top, this means the encasement for the fitting sits a few cm above the top, see dimensions.

This is a versatile and beautiful period piece ideal for collectors of antique furniture, Arts & Crafts enthusiasts, or shopkeepers looking to add vintage character to a curated retail interior. Suitable for home or commercial use and ready to be enjoyed for another century.
