Large Vintage Unique Pierced Painted Shabby Chic Mirror in Farrow and Ball Wimborne White 83 x 57 cm
A superb top quality genuine vintage mirror.
Circa approx. 1970.
The frame is made of wood with a moulded covering. There are pierced holes at regular intervals around the frame.
I have applied two undercoats and three top coats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell. Farrow and Ball- 'This just off white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White.'
I have wire woolled around the frame so the original gold finish underneath comes through to leave a contemporary distressed finish.
As with any hand painted pieces, expect minor flaws and idiosyncrasies to the finish.
To the bottom stretch of wood some of the gesso has been lost, however, as the gaps have been painted over the minor damage does not notice that badly at all.
It has a boarded backing with eyelets and string for hanging.
The original thick glass mirror is bevelled and in very good condition.
All round this is a beautiful bespoke mirror and would look great anywhere in the house.
