Large Vintage Solid Oak Arts and Crafts Fire Screen Tapestry Lady Feeding Parrot.
What a fine fire screen this is. This is very much I would suggest of the arts and crafts era during the early 20th century. Especially as it is made of oak very much a favoured wood during this period. The actual frame is obviously very simple in design but beautifully made of the oak and still as robust that's when it was originally made.
A simply delightful tapestry of a lady with long hair feeding a parrot. To me it looks like the colours to the top of this are not as vibrant as to the bottom. I'm really not sure if this is actually to deliberate, as the reds and oranges to the top and the bottom are pretty commensurate in appearance. What is noticeable is how the features of the face have faded a little however it does look like these were maybe painted on which may explain that and my slight misgivings.
There is and never was any glass and on the whole the tapestry, like the frame is well preserved. Please take a good look at all of the images to check the condition. The fire screen benefits from a solid board backing.
This really would add some quirky interest to your fireplace.
