A superb top quality genuine vintage oval mirror.
Circa approx. 1900.
The frame is made of wood with a moulded covering.
The original finish was a dark paint and not commercially viable, to sell, so I decided to paint.
I have applied two undercoats and three top coats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell. Farrow and Ball- 'This just off white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White.'
As with any hand painted pieces, expect minor flaws and idiosyncrasies to the finish.
It has a boarded backing and there are two inset mirror plates. You can unscrew these and move to sides for easier hanging.
The original thick glass mirror is bevelled and well preserved, there is some sporadic spotting and other minor surface marks but I would describe it as very good condition for the age.
All round this is a beautiful bespoke mirror and would look great anywhere in the house.
