Gorgeous large indoor rug Made in Belgium for the legacy British quality homestore, Laura Ashley. A super size rug in wool and cotton mix. Aubusson is the style - label attached giving care instructions etc. The pattern is very regal and classic. Lovely edging, border and central pattern. A super mix of reds, golds, beige and browns. A quality rug which would fit into classic, contemporary or traditional rooms. It is a good size measuring 228cm x 156cm approx
This rug is medium weight which means once in place it tends to stay there - although we all know some rugs have a mind of their own. It is perfect as a rug to lie on top of another carpet. The care label tells us it is almost a 50:50 combo of wool and cotton - so the lovely washable nature of cotton, and the quality of wool. It does say professionally clean only, but it is probably one of those rugs which could be carefully washed on a wool cycle, or certainly laid out and scrubbed by hand. You can see from the photos that the lighter shaded material is marked.
Interestingly, the underside of the rug is actually quite attractive - yes it is the reverse, but it has a lovely weave and is reds and golds. Less marked, but obviously label and threads would need to be removed if you wanted to use it this way round. Definitely an option. Besides the marking, there is one small tear I can see on one side, see photo. Otherwise in great vintage condition and can even be used as is. Has been vacuumed etc.
Rug will be sent folded or in a tight roll.
