Large vintage botanical studies paintings - Magnolia Grandiflora & Iris Germanicus by Irene Midleton, Countess Midleton, aka Rene Ray actor

Wonderful Pair of Two Large Retro Original Watercolour Paintings Still Life Flowers ‘Iris Germanica’ and ‘Magnolia Grandiflora’ by Irene Broderick, signed Irene Midleton, Countess Midleton (1912-1993). It is not generally realised that Irene was Rene Ray, a well known film and stage star of the 30s/40s/50s and also a successful novelist. She lived in Jersey with her second husband and took up amateur painting later in life.
These paintings are very lovely. Bold and bright and beautiful. They are framed professionally with thick quality green mounts and glazed gold painted wooden frames. There is some slight foxing on the ‘Iris Germanica’ painting, and a crease on Magnolia, but other than some small marks on the frames both are in excellent condition and ready to be hung up.
They are signed and labelled by Irene.
Dated 1983 and 1984.
Note, whilst able to be presented as a pair, the frames and mounts are not identical in size nor finish. Please see photos.
