This stunning vintage late Victorian mirror features a beautifully distressed gold gilt frame, adding character and charm to any space. It was crafted during Victorian times. The frame is made of wood covered in a moulded gesso, which was then coated with the retained original gold finish.
Clearly, parts of the gesso have been dislodged over the years, and what remains is a gorgeous bohemian shabby chic finish. This is either your kettle of fish or you simply won't like it because of the style.
However, the damage shows the history, and it is very much an aesthetic part that is quite fashionable today.
I am pleased to report that the original quality thick bevelled mirror is in superb condition for its age, with any minor blemishes only noticeable on close inspection.
Importantly, despite the damage, the frame is as solid as the day it was made.
Boarded backing with two old mirror plates to the top, there are a few worm holes to the backing that were redundant but I have swamped with woodworm fluid anyway, for your peace of mind.
