Large Scottish Highlands Vintage Water Colour Painting, glazed vintage frame - original vintage watercolour painting 81cm x 57cm approx

Wonderful Scottish Highlands original watercolour. Likely mid-century. Magnificent depiction of the Highlands, with a Loch, the beautiful mountains/Bens, and even some Stags and Deer in the foreground. Magnificently executed - this painting may well have been done by a renown artist, but unfortunately there is no visible signature. It is framed in a thick cream mount with hand drawn inner frames, and then a wonderful decorative vintage wooden frame. Glazed and ready to hang.

I wish I could place this landscape scene - someone who knows the Highlands well may be able to say exactly where the artist took in this stunning view. It is no doubt quite a spectacular spot to be. The painting oozes the colours of the Highlands, purples, greens, browns. And the wild animals in the foreground and the tinged leaves on the trees show the artist included a great amount of care and detail in the painting.

The painting is in exceptional condition; the mount being cream and over 50years old is showing signs of age. It has some discolouration and some marking on it, hard to show it all in the photos. It could be used as is if you are looking for a true authentic vintage look, or you could of course replace just the mount. The frame, for its age, is in superb condition too. It does have a few knocks and bump marks on it, including one or two you can't see in the photos, but is honestly in very good shape and can definitely be used as is. It is a very interesting and attractive frame. The back is sound, and has been updated at some point, string is good.
