Fabulous aquatint hand-coloured print, engraved by John Harris and drawn by Henry Thomas Alken. Entitled 'The First Steeple Chase on Record - The large field near Biles's Corner'. It has the delightful subtitle 'Whoop! and away! The Major in trouble - Subden's linen suffers'. From the very early Victorian era, this is part of a series. A similar copy resides in the British Museum.
Black, gilt patterned wood frame, glazed with hard board back, it is ready to hang. The print still retains a lovely colour though has some foxing and stains on it. The frame is in good condition with a number of wear marks and scratches, it is very tidy at the back.
