Large Bespoke Painted Shabby Chic Wall Mirror in Farrow and Ball with Gold Decoration
This is a beautiful hand painted ornate mirror from probably the 1980s or 90s. This is a reproduction of a Victorian style and to be honest it is painted and because it is not too old it is in far better condition than a Victorian of this size you will find. Not as authentic, of course, but looks fantastic and is alot cheaper!
The frame is made of solid wood with a moulded composite covering.
It originally had a gold finish which was worn so I decided to paint it.
I have applied two coats of primer and three top coats of a Farrow and Ball light cream eggshell.
I have then gone over the edges with some wire wool which has rubbed off the paint and exposed the gold underneath leaving a lovely distressed shabby chic effect.
It has a good quality crisp bevelled glass which is very well preserved.
There are of course, as there is with anything hand painted object, blemishes and is idiosyncrasies is to the finish but I would consider this mirror to be in very good condition.
All four eyelets to the back for hanging so it can be hung either way.
