This handsome antique over mantel mirror is a beautifully proportioned and richly detailed piece, likely Edwardian or early 20th century, made from solid mahogany and finished in a deep mahogany tone. Its generously sized rectangular frame is accented with elegant carved detail, including fluted vertical and horizontal mouldings, and finely shaped side brackets that support a classic cornice-style top. The decorative rhythm of the vertical reeding and gentle corner scrolls add character and timeless architectural appeal.

The mirror itself is clear and bright with only minor surface wear. The wooden frame shows signs of age and use, including the odd scuff, light knocks and some minor scratches to the finish, but it remains structurally sound and visually impressive. The rear backing boards are original, showing some movement and separation due to age, but they remain intact and stable for safe hanging. Brass loop fittings are in place, ready for wall mounting.

This piece would look magnificent hung above a fireplace, console, or sideboard in a period property, or used more decoratively in a hallway, dining room or boutique setting. It’s a substantial and striking example of traditional English joinery with real presence and charm, both functional and full of character.
This is a very well preserved piece. The quality has helped it age gracefully, there are some very vivid white marks within some of the fluting and some other minor surface marks, but this is fully intact and as sturdy as the day it was made.

The particularly good news, is the original thick bevelled glass is in fantastic condition still.

There is a split to the wooden backing, which obviously matters not a jot!

This product will be delivered by hand by a proper furniture courier.
Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales only.
There will be a cost anywhere else so please, contact us for a quote.
This will cost us between £60-80 to deliver, so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
It will take about 2 weeks.
