An outstanding and richly detailed antique overmantel mirror dating from the early to mid 1900s, in classic Regency style with a dramatic neoclassical frieze and tri-panel glass configuration. This imposing piece is finished in a warm, chalky gold that beautifully complements the romantic storytelling relief running along the upper register — a high-relief scene of classical figures, angels, lions, and charioteers in procession, echoing the taste and mythology-inspired aesthetic of the early 19th century. The frieze is executed in crisp, deeply cast gesso, featuring draped female figures with fruit and goblets, winged putti blowing trumpets, and a warrior-led triumphal chariot — all framed by foliate side blocks, rope-twist borders and oversized bobbin moulding under a wide, projecting cornice.

This is a piece with real theatre and presence, originally made for an English townhouse or Regency villa, now ready to bring scale and gravitas to any interior. The tri-panel bevelled mirror glass is original, with some light foxing and silvering loss in keeping with age. The overall structure is solid and intact. The carcass is made of wood and covered in the moulded gesso decoration. There is cosmetic wear and minor damage to several areas — most notably a very small chip to the top right-hand cornice, worn edges to the base corners, and some visible filler around the feet, however, I would say for the most part, the frame's condition is very good. These signs of age are not structural and contribute to its authenticity and character. The back is stable and shows typical age-related patina, with signs of previous wall mounting. The finish is a hand-painted antique gold with a soft, dry appearance, not glossy or over-polished, giving the mirror a subtle, timeworn grandeur rather than brash shine.

This mirror would make a dramatic focal point above a fireplace or console, especially in Georgian, neoclassical or early Victorian interiors. Also ideal for boutique settings, theatrical rooms or design schemes drawing on grand English country house style.
