This is a striking, one-of-a-kind 1980s octagonal mirror, beautifully upcycled and stripped back to reveal its raw wooden soul. Originally covered in an adhesive layer—likely once rattan or fabric—the frame has been lovingly restored to bare wood and given just a light spray polish. The result? A stunning, warm, rustic finish that blends effortlessly with vintage, industrial, or Scandinavian interiors.

The frame is made up of eight thick plywood segments, angled and mitred cleanly (most likely at 22.5°) to create the bold octagonal shape. The wood grain is clearly visible, and the construction is solid with no visible filler—just good, honest craftsmanship. A black-painted hardboard or MDF back panel adds extra strength and weight, giving this piece a reassuring sense of quality.

The fronts of the segments are smooth and very lightly polished, the edges are a bit rough as this was just the carcass for the original decoration, but it really adds a delightful original touch.

The bevelled mirror adds elegance, catching the light beautifully, and it's ready to hang with a taut wire securely fixed to D-rings on the back.

As it stands, the piece looks fantastic—but it also gives you, the buyer, the freedom to finish it however you like. Wax it, oil it, sand it down further, or leave it as-is for that raw, natural look.

Condition:

Front: Very good, of rustic, vintage condition with visible natural wood grain and only minor surface imperfections. Some rough edges.

Back: Some scuffs and use marks, but structurally sound.

Edges: Light wear and minor chipping consistent with age and transport.

Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales only.
There will be a cost anywhere else so please, contact us for a quote.
This will cost us between £60-80 to deliver, so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
It will take about 2 weeks.
