A very stylish vintage lamp standard oozing vintage charm.
I would date this as early 20th century.
It was bought from a stall at the Ardingly antiques fair from traders who had imported their wares from Germany or thereabouts. They were not too chatty!
It will obviously need rewiring.
I never understand how a practical piece of household equipment of at least 100 years remains so well preserved. It has the original cream paint. You will see in the images and video that there are some surface marks (we call it an age worn shabby chic effect of course) but they are marks, nonetheless. But these do not detract from the general character. The paint is a dark cream with some red highlights.
It is a beautiful turned shaft with a fluted bottom half.
Thick base with lovely bun feet.
This is very good quality and stands very well.
The wire feeds through the centre of the lamp. It still has the original bayonet that you may well wish to replace.
The base unscrews and will be sent unattached to cut down on the risk of any damage during transit.
