Impressive Large Vintage Ornate Painted Distressed Effect Wooden Mirror Late Victorian.
A large imposing and characterful vintage oval mirror.
This is late Victorian.
The actual mirror is made of pine with a moulded, probably gesso or plaster of some sort, covering and the original finish. The frame is very robust and this is as strong now as when it was made in the 19th century.
The ornate decoration is painted in black and the smooth, lighter, decoration to the centre seems to have been printed on. As you can see in the images there there is wear and some marks to this part of the decoration.
However, unusually all of the moulded decoration is still intact and I think the marks to the central part really give it some character and age.
The glass is in excellent condition. Unusual for a mirror of this age.
