Huge Vintage Wall Mirror in French Chic Light Grey Chalk
I have applied an undercoat and then three coats of French Chic chalk paint. I have then wire woolled the paint accentuating edges so glimpses of the wood shows through.
To varnish we use a ‘Polyvine’ varnish.
This is a child, pet and food safe varnish.
We apply two coats of a ‘dead flat finish’ and a ‘satin finish’ so the finish has a sheen to it.
It is very early 20th century and I think originally it was part of a grand sideboard back this has been chopped down to be made into a wall mirror. The carcass is pine and the inner beading and exterior wood mahogany.
There are four brass mirror plates for the purposes of hanging. These have also been painted in grey.
As you can see the frame is in good condition with usual aged wear.
There is some spotting and other minor flaws to the glass as you would expect on something of this age. It is however excellent quality glass with a bevelled edge. this is very difficult to show mirror blemishes in an image, in normal taste they use they are not particularly noticeable however close up they are. so if you want a shop finish this probably isn't for you however if you like a proper aged worn genuine look the glass really adds to the ambience of the piece.
