This is a stunning hand painted upcycled wall mirror.
The mirror is probably 20 to 30 years old.
It is made of solid wood.
It has a very tired finish to it, so I decided to paint it and give it a contemporary makeover.
I have applied two base coats and three top coats of a Farrow and Ball eggshell that is a light grey. To the very outside and the aperture I have applied three coats of an artist’s gold acrylic and wire woolled it down to leave that with a slightly shabby chic worn finish that looks fantastic.
It has a good quality bevelled glass mirror which is very well preserved.
These large mirrors are fantastic as wall mirrors or over mantels, apart from being great to look at the reflection and the size makes your room look spacier.
It currently has had some gold wire for hanging which presumably has been adequate, but there are also plastic mouldings to each corner which are for wall attachment. I assume somebody added the wire as it was easier to hang that way!
