Huge Vintage Oak Wall Mirror Over Mantel
Believe it or not, this mirror was originally from a dressing table. As you can see by the size it must have been absolutely huge!
I would date it between 1920 and 1940.
The main carcass is made of pine with thick oak imposed to the front.
Pretty and understated carving and decoration make this very sleek and attractive without being too overbearing in appearance and fussy.
The great news is that the quality bevelled mirror remains very well preserved and in excellent condition.
The original axis parts etc have been removed and two newer brass mirror plates have been attached to the sides, for the purposes of hanging.
As you can see in the images, the condition is very good with no obvious flaws, and because the axis mechanisms were to the back, there are none of the usual filled holes to the sides that you get with former and upcycled dressing table mirrors.
This would look great anywhere in the house, especially in a hallway or above a fireplace.
