This is an exceptional wall or overmantel mirror that originally formed part of a grand dressing table. The original axis mechanisms on the sides have been removed and filled. While the filled areas are a slightly different color, they are located on the sides and will hardly be noticeable once the mirror is in place.
The mirror boasts an elegant and sophisticated shape, striking a perfect balance between vintage charm and a timeless style that fits seamlessly into both modern and contemporary décor. Likely crafted in the 1920s, the thick, heavy glass and the solid wooden backing indicate the mirror was originally a high-end, luxurious product.
The frame has been stripped of its original dark finish, revealing the oiled mahogany underneath. I would suggest the finish has a rustic feel and look.
The wood and craftsmanship are of the finest quality, durable and beautifully crafted. The oiled wood still has subtle traces of the original finish still visible in some areas, adding to its character.
The bevelled glass is remarkably well-preserved for a nearly 100 year old mirror. There is a noticeable scratch to the centre, but otherwise, it is in excellent condition with just a few very minor customary blemishes that only notice on close inspection. The brass mirror plates on either side can be used as they are or easily upgraded to suit your preference.
This is an outstanding mirror that would look fantastic in any room of the house. Its refined design makes it particularly well-suited as an overmantel mirror, adding timeless elegance and a sense of history to your home.
