Huge Vintage 80’s Gold Distressed Finish Gold Gilt Wall Mirror. Bevelled Glass. 85 x 61 cm
A large and imposing gold wall mirror.
Although this looks like a modern reproduction it is a 1980s mirror and not to be confused with the dreadful Far East imports that taint the nations homes, made of composite rubbish and thin glass.
The frame of this is made of solid wood and is exceedingly robust. It has been covered in a plaster moulding and the original finish you can see in the images.
This is an interesting look and it was made during a time when reproduction goods were beginning to be given an aged look and that's what I really like about this mirror. The primitive lines on the frame give an aged effect but let's face it are a little bit clumsy. There are some surface marks to the frame and to the edges a few tiny areas where the plaster has been lost. Nothing I would say that does not add to the authenticity of this mirror.
The glass is of a very high quality, it is thick with a nice sharp bevel.
To the back there is board and eyelets and string. Eyelets are in place should you wish to hang the mirror the other way.
