Huge Statement Piece Vintage 1987 Oil Acrylic Native American Nestled Within the Wings of an Eagle Myths and Legends
This is a truly magnificent portrait of a high-ranking native American nestled within the outstanding painting of the eagle.
It is a portrait of a native American chief or high ranking male person captured in an abstract kind of manner in situ with possibly a fish eagle. His face is painted within the expansive wings of this magnificent bird of prey. I am not familiar with native American myths and legends but this depiction seems to be connecting the strength, intelligence and soaring power of the eagle with the man and his tribe. It is beautifully painted showing the dramatic signs of age and life on his face and the vibrancy and power of the eagle, which comes through very clearly. It is certainly a statement piece for anyone looking for a painting that carries a story and commands attention.
I cannot decipher the signature, but it was painted in 1987. I am not sure if the medium is oil or acrylic, I would plump for oil. It has been superbly executed and actual painting, on canvas, remains as fresh and in as good a condition as the day it was painted.
The frame is wooden, maybe beech, with a tough cream coloured finish. There are some surface marks the worst offenders being about twelve inches in from the top left hand corner and about six inches in from the top left hand corner of the inner frame. There is then a linen covering and a further inner wooden frame. The whole frame structure is intact and solid.
Cardboard backing, eyelets and wire.
This is a stunning piece and because on the whole the colours are quite light this would look great on a white or cream wall.
