Huge Quality Vintage 60s Gilt Gold Mirror Dark Highlights Superb Heavy Bevelled Glass.
The top quality distressed look gold mirror with dark highlights.
I think it was made approximately 1950/60.
The frame is made of wood with a moulded plaster or gesso design. On top of this is a muted gold finish with darker highlights. To the top right corner some of the gesso is missing and it has previously been coloured in with what looks like some gold and dark paint mixed together. There are also some smaller areas on the left hand upright which have been touched up in black.
As you look at the mirror and frame these do not really notice as the design is quite busy. actually one could argue it just adds a little bit of a shabby chic authenticity.
No problems with the mirror though. This is a superb piece of thick bevelled glass that despite the age is very well preserved and in great condition. This also means it counteracts the other defects to the frame as it looks so crisp and alive.
Boarded backing, eyelets and a chain.
