This striking pair of Colonial Revival columns features elegant lines and an oriental inspired lacquer finish. The pins at the top suggest they were originally designed to hold large candles, but their use is entirely up to your imagination. Adjusted, perfect as plant stands, display pedestals, or simply as sculptural decor pieces.
The finish has a lovely, aged patina reminiscent of traditional oriental lacquerwork, with areas of wear and chipping that only add to their character. You could choose to leave them as they are for a distressed, shabby chic look, or restore them to suit your space, strip them back, paint them, or stain them to your taste.
These columns were likely imported, and while we can't confirm the exact wood type, it's clearly a solid, well-crafted piece with fine workmanship. There are a few areas of past minor splitting which have been filled and are stable.
They are in very good vintage condition overall and make a stunning decorative statement.
