Huge Outstanding Vintage Oval Victorian Dressing Table Mirror.
This is an outstanding Victorian dressing table mirror. The design is very unusual with the almost arm like mirror supports and the cute trinket box.
It is late Victorian and beautifully made of mahogany the craftsmanship that has gone into it is superb.
It is very well preserved to look at, there are a couple of faults, but aesthetically to look at it is in close to excellent condition.
To the faults. To the bottom right one of the bun feet is missing and to the left a replacement piece of wood has been added, you can see this in the images. The main thing is the decorative part to the front is still in situ and of course you can just remove the bottom aspects. But in all honesty it doesn't really notice too badly. One of the brass axis points is damaged, the upper part of the hinge is broken however as all of the pieces are still there the main thing is the screw mechanism still works fine so whilst the hinge does not lift up and down as is supposed to do it is still perfectly functional as the tightening mechanism that holds the mirror in place and secure is fine. In fact despite this to be perfectly honest the mechanism actually works better than a lot of these mirrors as it is very firm.
These oval mirrors fronts are all made-up of four sections And there are tiny gaps between each of these which again is fairly customary with oval mirrors.
Look at the images though, as you can see this is a really beautiful mirror it's taken a bit of a hit with some faults, but the main thing is it still looks absolutely outstanding.
