Huge Impressive 1920’s Gold Painted Oak Mirror.
I am fairly certain the gold finish to this has been applied after the event so to speak. These sorts of oak mirrors are generally finished in a dark oak stain and I can only assume someone has painted over the oak.
Not a bad thing as gold mirrors are far more commercial these days than old dark oak ones and this has he added benefit of being painted a while ago so has a nice aged look to it with a few signs of wear and tear, but nothing critical.
Obviously being made of oak it is very good quality frame and all the joints are still good. There are some signs of black spotting but this only really notices on close inspection and as you view from a normal distance you can hardly see them.
Please note the mirror does not have a backing which frankly doesn't really matter because who can see it! It never did, which is unusual, but as you can see the mirror glass is held in by quadrants which would indicate there never was any backing and there certainly is not any evidence or holes that would suggest there ever was one.
Nice chunky original chain to the back.
