How wonderful. This superb vintage early 1900s carved wooden glazed frame, containing three vintage postcards - all of the Haslemere area in Surrey. All colour tinted photographs/postcards of cultural or historical significance in the area. Including Stephen's Hill, Gibbet Cross, and Tennyson's Lane. Stunning Frame too.
If you know the area then this will be a picture full of memories and reflection. Some info below on the various locations in the Surrey Hills. Someone must have collected these postcards and had them framed. The mount is definitely made to fit the three. Lovely thick vintage mount.
The frame is carved around the edges making it particularly attractive - possibly a 1920s-40s frame, The back has been replaced at some point, but the wire is possibly original. The picture is ready to hang. The frame does show its age in places, with the wood rubbed lighter in places, odd chips and marks, but it is authentically charming.
Some markings on the postcards, but also perfectly good condition and able to be displayed.
Please see photos and video.
Size : approx 50cm x 24cm frame
