Glorious Victorian Carved Oak Fender Fireplace Hearth
Absolute top build quality both in the craftsmanship and the top of the range oak wood.
The decoration throughout is absolutely superb, especially the carved top to it.
Over 150 years of the lifespan of this fender, the finish has naturally worn, especially to the top. There are areas towards the front and sides where it is darker, and the finish is better preserved. I think this looks absolutely fantastic, showing the age worn history and finish of the piece at its best.
They would originally have been further decorations on the back of each side where the surface is flat; these would have been lost many moons ago.
Metal is on the back of the main stretch of fender and partially on the sides, protecting the wood from falling debris from the fire.
Everything else is intact besides the two missing pieces at the back. Yes, there are signs of wear throughout, but this is a beautiful piece of fireplace furniture.
The quality and craftsmanship is outstanding.
