A Georgian or Early Victorian mahogany inlaid cupboard with drawers. It would be a piece of furniture that bridges late Georgian and early Victorian design sensibilities.

The sideboard is primarily made of mahogany with an oak interior and drawer linings, magnificent quality.

Mahogany, known for its rich reddish-brown tones and fine grain, was a popular wood for high-quality furniture, while oak, a sturdier and lighter wood.

Inlaid, with contrasting woods like satinwood or ebony, which would have been delicately placed to create decorative borders with geometric patterns. Inlays were often a hallmark of higher craftsmanship during this era.

This piece would have been designed for dining rooms, serving as a functional and decorative piece for storing dining essentials like silverware, dishes, and linens, as well as a surface for serving food during meals.

The combination of mahogany and oak, along with the inlay work, makes it an elegant and durable addition to any home from that era.

The drawers both run well and are clean inside.

On the whole, for the age, the condition is incredibly good. There is a split to the top and on the right of the tops and pieces of inlay missing and some other general signs of wear. Wear to the trim around the edges of the drawers.

Elsewhere apart from a small piece of moulding missing to the bottom of the left hand side, the condition is pretty much perfect apart from the odd surface mark.

I can only assume at some point this has been restored.

This will cost us between £60-80 so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
