These are two superb vintage prints (likely early 1900s) of original water colours by the famous artist Garman Morris. The British artist, Garman Morris, was active between 1900 and 1930, was renowned for his watercolour paintings, particularly seascapes and coastal scenes. His works often depicted fishing boats and tranquil maritime settings, capturing the serene beauty of the British coastline. These two are titled "Dawn" and "Misty Evening" and show boats and fishermen at 'quiet' times on the sea. They are not glazed, in very good condition, and in original mounts and frames.
Possibly painted circa 1910, these paintings are exquisite - the detail and calm is so beautifully captured. The reality of being a fisherman in the early 1900s would not have been an idyllic existence and yet these paintings show the livelihood in a slightly more peaceful and calm manner.
Morris painted in both Britain and Europe and many of his works have sold at auction. These prints were likely made to make his stunning art available to a wider audience.
The vintage mounts are the antique deep gold, as are the frames. The pictures are not glazed and as they are the original frames, the backing needs some tightening the the strings replaced. The frames and mounts show signs of wear, even chips, scratches and marks to boot. But they are authentic early 1900s frames and mounts, so completely authentic!
The prints are in vgc however - they just need glass to protect them moving forward - they have only minor markings on them.
