This is such an unusual and charming find, almost certainly homemade and bursting with vintage appeal. It’s a delightful piece that sparks the imagination, and it’s easy to imagine countless hours of fun children must have had playing with it. For practical parents, it’s even better—everything folds away neatly for safe and compact storage.
The material appears to be a synthetic fabric, possibly draylon, in a vibrant green. It has been well-preserved over the years, as has the gold star design. The decorative elements are mostly in good condition, though the stage lights are a little tatty.
The back folds out, as shown in the accompanying video. At first, I wasn’t sure what the metal rod stored at the top was for, but it turns out it stabilizes the top corners of the fold-out doors. The curtain simply lifts up and can be placed on the hook where the metal rod was stored.
Constructed from pine strips and adorned with dated decorative finishes, this piece is full of character. The stage folds down and rests on a fold-out arm, though this mechanism will need a little adjustment as it currently slopes at an angle. Based on the materials and overall design, I would estimate it dates back to the 1960s.
This is an absolutely rare and incredibly quirky piece, likely treasured by many generations. It’s packed with charm and nostalgia, making it a wonderful addition for anyone who appreciates vintage toys or unique decorative items.
